Hi all, I have a couple (ernest haynes+ Beatrice Thorpe) married in march 1925 with the following children:

Thomas - March 1924
Ernest - born march 1925, registered june
george - sept 1926
vera 1928
joyce 1929
percy 1930

I have also found nearby an:
Alfred 1918 and an everline 1919
which would make the mother around 14 and 15 yrs old at the time of birth (if it is the same couple).

Is it more likely to be the same couple just having children well before marriage or another couple with same names ?

are you sure that the first list are children born to Ernest and Beatrice??


ie, have you got the birth certificates that prove this?


You can only be certain of the parentage of any of the children if you do indeed buy each and every certificate.


there is also a Samuel that you forgot, who also has the same mmn

This look slike a more reasonable answer to your question ...... by looking at marriages Thorpe/Haynes


Marriages Jun 1917 (>99%)

Marriages Mar 1925 (>99%)

Cooper Leslie G Smith Nottingham 7b 577
Haynes Ernest Thorpe Nottingham 7b 577

Now the question to ask is are the two Thorpe/Haynes couples related!

Agh thank you !

i didnt see James and Mary. Having yet another blonde day.

I have not ordered these certificates yet, (I was determining the odds so I don't purchase too many from unrelated lines lol)

From navy and other australian records I know that Ernest 1925 is definately the son of Beatrice and Ernest (7b 577)
george, vera, joyce and percy seem to be the next lot to confirm!

You may find that two brothers married two sisters - it was very common around that time.
