Sorry for the delay in responding Sylvia but I've been away for a couple of days.

It certainly looks like part of the same family. Any ideas how I can find out for certain?

Thanks very much

Hey - thanks for that Barbara.

I spent a lot of yesterday evening looking for any other children but have to confess my mind was on Ashes to Ashes at the time.

Thanks a lot

Thanks Joseph for supplying the information for Barbara. Much appreciated.

It has certainly helped as I knew Ruth Stoneham married someone called Baker but couldn't find out any more. Another wall knocked down thanks to you all.

Oh Joseph that good--so I could be right then ?

It isn't silly at all Beverly, it was a normal thing to think, because he had a surname for a middle name--but Joseph came up with the answer I was trying to explain, Thank you Joseph

Ps --I also thought of my Dad who had his grandmothers maiden surname as a middle name --
best wishes

I can't say for sure Beverley--but it could have been--where did you find the record and I will take a look --maybe if his Mum was a Stoneham before marriage it was a way of "carrying on " the name

Thanks Barbara

Do you mean Stoneham would be his middle name? That would make sense. I hadn't thought of that - silly me!!

Thanks for that

Was the child born before the parents married? I have a child in my tree Sarah Elizabeth Beesley and her parents are William and Eliza Higgins but as Sarah was born before they married she took her mothers maiden name.

Hi Beverley
Have you found Abraham on any census with surname Stoneham ?

On a Baptism image it usualy says NAME-- (ie Baptism name) which in this case was Abraham Stoneham --his Surname would then be Baker

so---Abraham Stoneham Baker

Hope you can understand how I have tried to explain this
best wishes

Could someone tell me how a child with the surname Stoneham could have parents both with surnames of Baker? I have a suspicion that Ruth's maiden name was Stoneham but why isn't the child named Baker?

Thanks for the help
