Thank you AmazingGrace08

I'll check that website out. I was hoping that Catherine had married and had children. But hopefully she had a full life. She certainly got to a ripe old age if she lived till 1919. 81? if her birth date is correct on the 1851 census.

Regards Linda

Hi Linda,

If you check NSW BMD (here is the link: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/ ), you will see a record of a death of

Certificate Reference: 8878/1919
Surname: DUNBAR
Given Name: CATHERINE
Father: WILLIAM
Mother: MARY A
District: BALMAIN SOUTH

The NSW BDM is a very good site that is free to search within time frame parameters.

You will need to order the death certificate to see if the Catherine Dunbar is the one and the same.

There is only one marriage for a Catherine Dunbar and an associated Death record, howere her parents are listed as John and Mary so the first death record would seem to fit better.

Kind regards

Rcahelle

I think that I have read that Australian census are destroyed after they have been analysed. So you cannot get a lookup.

Hi Ann of Green Gables

All I know is that Catherine was born in Falkirk, Scotland abt, 1838. I cannot find any birth details for her on Scotlands People. On the passenger list details it states that she was 18 years old.

I have found my great aunt Catherine Dunbar on the assisted passenger list to Australia on 22nd April 1857. It stated that she had an aunt and uncle Donald or Duncan and Jane McDonald living in sydney. Are there any census' available in Australia to help in my search for what happended to her in Australia. Where did she settle? Did she marry? Have children? How can I find when she died? Any advise would be really gratefully received. Catherine's parents names were William and Mary Ann Dunbar..
Mary Ann was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia but she was living in Falkirk, Scotland in 1841 and London City in 1851. William died in London in 1850 and Mary Ann in 1871.
Thankyou in anticipation.
