Does anyone know if divorces are anywhere in the public domain and accessible? I am thinking pre 1942 in this case which is when my uncle, Horace Walker married for the second time in Bradford. His first marriage, no details known, produced a son, again nothing known. Am I expecting too much?.............Mavis

have I got this right

you have no idea as to when your uncle might have married the first time?? Not even a guess??

If you have an idea as to when your uncle was born, that might give an idea as to when he married.

Where was the uncle born?? He married in Bradford in 1942 ..... is that where he lived, was born???

You have no idea of what might have been the forename of the purported wife?

You have no idea of the forename of the child, nor when he was born ..... yet you do know that "it" was a son?

SylvialnCanada, No, you have not got it right My question related to the accessibility of divorce records and whether with the little info I have(which does include my uncle's place and dob, and family info that there was a son but estrangement after the divorce), a search made might enable me to find my unknown cousin.
Thank you for your time.....................Mavis

Even if you could locate a divorce, you wouldn't really know if it was your Horace. Was he also born in Bradford? If so there is a good chance his 1st marriage took place there, and there aren't many:

Marriages Mar 1913 (>99%)
Walker Horace Smith Bradford 9b 149

Marriages Sep 1915 (>99%)
Walker Horace Sutcliffe Bradford 9b 477

Marriages Dec 1925 (>99%)
Walker Horace Kennedy Bradford 9b 462

Marriages Sep 1928 (>99%)
Walker Horace Bradley Bradford 9b 420

Marriages Jun 1942 (>99%)
Walker Horace Shaw Bradford 9b 90

brummiejan, snap, I had those marriages noted ready for when................
Horace Walker JAS1891 in Sheffield, no middle name that I know of SomersetGirl.
I have checked for marriages in Sheffield but didn't find any. The 1942 listed above is correct I believe because I knew the Christian name, Olga.
How can the divorce record be found?please.
I have to leave now but will be back later this evening...........Mavis

Thank you all very much for this information, there is a lot to take in and as I don't have a date as a starting point, I may have real difficulty obtaining the answer, but it was very kind of you all to take the time to search for me.....................Mavis
