Surviving discharge papers for those discharged to pension up to 1854 are name indexed on the National Archives Catalogue. Put in the surname and use WO97 as the record to search. I would imagine there may well be a few men of that name, though, so it would help to know where he was born and his regiment in order to identify him.

Or you could wait until the records appear on findmypast and look at all the men named George King discharged up to 1854. There can't be many of his rank so hopefully you might be able to identify him that way!

Are you sure you have the right trial ?

There is this one :

England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892
about George King
Name: George King
Age: 18
Estimated birth year: abt 1806
Date of Trial: Apr 1824
Trial Year: 1824
Location of Trial: Middlesex, England
Sentence: Transportation - 7 years
Crime: Larceny
Date of Execution or Release: See Image

The one you have shown gives sentence as DEATH not transportation

Thanks for your replies. I do not know where George King Snr was born. His son George was a convict sent to Australia. He was born in London in 1802. Here is the other information I have on him:
George King
Date of Trial: Lent 1824
Trial Year: 1824
Location of Trial: Kent, England
Sentence: Death
The offence was Larceny.
From London, George was transported to Australia for life on the ship “S.S. Minerva”. The shipmaster was Jn Bell.

Hello. I am trying to find out more about my ancestor George King who was reportedly a Quarter Master Sargeant. George was born in the late 1700's and had a son George who was born in 1802. I do not know much else about him and thought the Military Records might be a good place to look.
