But how is GR , or its computer program supposed to know that you have been in contact??????

they don't keep records of your pms or correspondence

and if they did ....... one heck of a lot of people would be jumping up and down claiming invasion of privacy

use some sense

the computer program is set ot search for names that occur in more than one tree

it's a MACHINE that is doing the searching!

I just plain ignore even hot matches, and have for the last 5 or so years ...... because every bit of information on trees on this site for my father's family back to the mid-1500s has been provided by ME

but I don't get my knickers in a knot about it!!

Just shrug and delete the email.

Maybe one day, they will find a Match with one of my mother's family, or OH's Welsh or Westmorland families

........ that is, if I ever get around to putting his families on a tree!

For years members have complained that hotmatches are not hot enough.
EG John Smith of England Matched to John Smith of Australia
Now Genes are trying to do something about it but members are still not happy.
You can turn hotmatches off in "My account"(I think)

Hi Inspectorgreenpen
TheJoke is that if GR took the time to check they would discover that the only Super Hot Match I have ever received from them is already on my list of contacts.they must be able to check this I am looking for new contacts not old to add to my tree.

IGP, I think people are annoyed that they have already had contact with these members and so the matches are not at all hot any more.

Why is it a joke? Surely it is doing what it says on the tin.

Super Hot Matches are a way of providing you with closer matches for names in your tree. Super Hot Matches match relations in other members’ trees whose name, year of birth and parents match relations in your tree, providing a stronger match than normal hot matches.

So, if someone has a name, year of birth and parents match relations in your tree, then you could get a Super Hot Match.

What is the problem?

I just had a Super Hot Match showing 32 names in common! As we have been collaborating with our trees for over 4 years now - what took them so long? These really are a waste of time, I just wish they would spend their time weeding out members who haven't been active for several years and just frustrate us all by their lack of response.

What a joke the "Super Hot Matches" are Genereunited have just sent me one from a member who I have been in connection with for about 2 years which is how are trees are so alike. Are they now running out of members to be matched up for the normal Hot Matches!!!!
Has anybody else had the same experience.
