They would be born in different quarters, but the elder twin would be registered in the later quarter too.

I've heard of twins being born in different years and I guess they could even be different centuries, but generally they would be registered at the same time, ie in the same quarter.

Having said that, ...In 1937 there were probably several twins born where a multiple birth was unexpected, so in theory 'Dad' could have set off to register his newborn son or daughter and later arrive home to find a twin had been born. That child's birth could have been registered when they got around to it, so could be in a following quarter.

Only a certificate will confirm details.

We have the same father's name and mother's maiden name in our family, as two brothers married two sisters.
Probably not impossible - but if one twin was born just before midnight on the last day of eg. March, and the second born after midnight on eg lst April this would be two different quarters

I would imagine if they registered them seperately for some reason, and they were born towards the end of a quarter, maybe one could be registered say end of September and the other beginning of October. Not sure if this could happen but it could be a possibility.

Presumably they would have been registered on the same day, so would appear on the same page( or next page) in the same volume in the same quarter.

Maybe sisters married brothers? or just common surnames in that area? so that registrations have the same maiden name?

Is it possible that twin's birth could be registered in different quarters of the same year? This would be in 1937.

Thanks
