I failed yesterday to get the correct lady on the 1911 after Choccy very kindly did me a look up.

Can anybody check this lady to see if she is mine?

Frances Neale aged 64, born 1847 Dorset, living Winchester, a widow.
Could have a daughter Ellen aged 21, born 1890 Hampshire, living Winchester

The Francis isn't the correct one but I'd say that Ellen is correct.

On the 1901 Frances was calling herself Maria and was 52, with her husband Uriah in Kings Somborne Hants.

Uriah died 1905 Stockbridge and Frances (Maria) died 1933, so she should be on the 1911 but she is hiding very well!

That's her as she was born Hartfoot Lane. Hilton Dorset and was a widow by then.

On the 1901 she was living Kings Somborne, so mystery solved.

I have been trying all sorts of combinations of the spelling of Neale/Neal and then Frances/Maria and Marie but hadn't thought to put the male spelling of Francis!
I'll remember that if it comes up again

Jan, assume you are doing a freesearch on 1911. Don't bother to try and think of spellings - just click on "variants" for name. Have a go, she will come up.
