Yes, I should have said James and Samuel. If Elizabeth, 25, was the wife, then her age must be wrong.

At Hinckley There is a Clara 1843 and an Anna Maria, 1845. No deaths of these names before 1851. If they are the same family that stoill leaves George, Margaret and William.

Thanks for your replies.

I have just heard from Australia that the family came from Ashby de la Zouch, but the only two births that I can find on Free BMDs are William and Samuel. I looked for the other chidren's names but couldn't find them. The ony Anne I could find spelled with an e was in Norfolk.

Although you may not be able to locate this family in the 1841 census, it may be possible to eliminate the Norfolk connection by cross referencing the 1841/51 censi and the birth index. I am assuming the ages you gave were their age either on arrival in Australia or in the ship passenger list.

The are only two Clara Grimes in the 1841 census. A further two were born between 1841-1851. One was in the Hinckley registration district, the other in the Norwich registration district.

In the 1851 census, the two Clara Grimes in the 1841 are both there plus the Norwich one.

The 1844 Hinckley one is missing.

The following family arrived in Queensland in 1849.
Grimes, Anne Maude, 3
Grimes Clara 5
Grimes Elizabeth 25
Grimes George 13
Grimes James 9
Grimes Margaret 7
Grimes Samuel 11
Grimes William 11
Grimes William 38
There is a suggestion that they came from Staveley, but I am hoping that they may fit in with my family from Norfolk. I could not find them on the 1841 census, can someone find them when I can't, Please? Sobebody usually can..

Edited to add family, sorry.
