I let mine lapse last year, went through withdrawal symptoms. Ancestry never did contact me with any kind of offer but then I found through these threads a half-price offer for Worldwide Ancestry through Ancestry.ca. I signed up and am in seventh heaven but dreading the day it runs out. Don't know that I want to pay full price for it! Guess that's how they get you hooked.

I always let mine lapse then they send me emails giving discounts sometimes I have to hold out for awhile before I get what I want.

I have also rang them and blatantly asked for a discount. I was lucky enough to get 20% but that was last year.

If you can hang on for a few weeks before renewing, Ancestry will contact you with a discount offer. I did last November and they gave me a 20% discount. It's just hard being without for the few weeks it took for them to get back to me.

Just to clarify re National Trust, yes there is a discount but only for new membership, not a renewal of existing.

Just tried myself last week when my sub to Ancestry expired.

Something was also mentioned about Quidco, but never tried that, so don't know if it just applied to new memberships.
Like Jonesey i had to" bite the bullet" and renew at the cost after getting at half price last year
