Does anyone know if they had schoolmasters in workhouses, and did they and their families live in the workhouses in separate accommodation?

Hi
Yes some workhouses had their own schoolmasters whilst others sent children to local schools.
Which area are you talking about?
You may be able to find information about the particular workhouse online.

Hi Von

The workhouse in question was

Workhouse, High Greens, Berwick Upn Tweed in 1851

the father is the school master and he has his wife and children with him.

Would they have lived in the workhouse itself do you think?
