My last sub was through the U.K. site so I don't know why they are offering me the discount through the U.S site. Anyway I will phone them to see if I can get the discount through the U.K. site as that seems to be the cheapest way to go. Not sure yet if I will go for the World sub or the Premium that I had before.

Pauline I don't know why they told you that you couldn't have the U.K. sub if you are living in Canada. Did you try going onto the U.K. site and checking the subscriptions? That's what I did with my previous sub.

I ordered the UK basic thru the UK site and got the VAT knocked off - this was March or April of 2010. I was told they do it automatically when they see you've got a Canadian address.

My Ancestry sub recently expired and I have just had an e-mail saying that I can get a 20% discount on a U.S. or World Sub. I'm thinking of getting the World Sub which is US$240. (I'm in Canada so that would be about $250 Canadian.)

When I check the U.K. site the cost of a World sub is £155.40 which is about $236 Can. This is a bit cheaper than the US rate even without the discount. I believe if I order from the U.K. site that I will not be charged VAT so would expect it to be 17.5% cheaper than the quoted rate.

Does anyone know for sure whether the VAT would be deducted? My last sub was through the U.K. and I think it was a bit cheaper than I expected but not quite sure and have no way of checking.
