In regards to being discharged in 1920. My Grandfather was not discharged officially until 1923. [in his case he was then put on active reserve]
Physically he returned to England in 1920.
Though the war ended in 1919 the soldiers had to stay on to help cleanup and help with the return of refugees. As most of Europe was totally devastated by the end of the war.

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone out there might be able to halp me out please?

i am looking at my great great uncle's ww1 service record and it says:

Rank for pension: CTV
Nature of disability code number: 43- 29
Disibility 1: dibility?
Disability 2: DAH?
and next to them, attrib.

I'm totlly confused by this as it also says he was discharged 1920 but i was always told he had been blinded by mustard gas so i had assumed he would have been discharged during the war rather than serving afterwards aswell.

his name is Frank Gannaway (born 1895) and the address on record is 9 richmond wood road, bournemouth.

many thanks,
Leanne.x
