In 2008, £100 0s 0d from 1809 is worth
£5,720.00 using the retail price index.
£68,600.00 using average earnings.

In 2008, £100 0s 0d from 1855 is worth
£6,780.00 using the retail price index.
£66,400.00 using average earnings.

This is interesting in that it tells us we earn over ten times, relatively speaking, now than we did then.
