Hiding living people

Simple solution: Don't enter living people on an online tree. There is no guarantee that their names will be hidden.

I manage a tree for a neighbour. This means that I can view their tree from their login and from mine.
From their login nothing is hidden.
From mine all living people are hidden but also dead descendants of living people are hidden.
They are not hidden in "search trees" and "hot matches".

Thanks All for your help.

So if I read it right!!!!! might be a bit of a dumbo here..
If someone has access to my tree they might see my mum as living???

Patricia, I didn't use the "Hide" function. I typed in each person's name as "living person". I think if you do use that function, the hidden people still show up on Hot Matches.

You could change the names for you and your mum on your tree. Just call them living mother, living person or even 'none of your business'! Make sure some of it goes in the surname box.

Fudge the dob and place of birth, or death if relevant. I've rounded my dates to the nearset 5 and put UK for the pob.

edit - I have access to my mother in laws embryonic tree. She uses the 'hide living relative' funtction as well. When it is viewed, she and her living descendents are 'hidden', but her parents (1901-1975 & 1899-1977) are on view. Her name does come up on 'search trees' even though otherwise hidden.
