I've checked through and it looks as though it could have been Laura Elizabeth Burgess who was Edith's Mum.

There is one on the 1911 living East Preston, which doesn't quite add up but there is also a death of a Laura Elizabeth Kaines 1969 Horsham.

I can't see a Jane Kaines (the other match on FreeBmd for marriages) anywhere, so I'm opting for Laura Elizabeth Burgess
