hi there, with regards to subscriptions, could anyone tell me which site offers the best value for money? I have looked at Ancestry, and findmypast, genes, and just dont know which to choose. I am a gold member on here, but need to update to platinum for the 1911 census access, it is there on findmy past, but that is expensive, ancestry seems good and I have had it before, but it hasnt got the 1911. Some advice needed please!!! Thank you xx

Ancestry is putting on its site the 1911 Census Enumerator Books in 2010 -
The 1911 Census Enumerator Books will include the following:
The address
The head of household’s name
The respective number of males and females living in the house.

I prefer to stay an ordinary member on genes reunited and use other sites for census, parish and military records etc.

Find my past is useful for the 1911 census and some military information for me.
We were subscribed to ancestry, decided to try find my past for a year, may go back to ancestry next time for the London parish records especially.

I subscribe to Ancestry but am currently taking a 14 day trial on findmypast. I used to have gold membership on here but did not think it gave value for money.

To be perfectly honest I am going to stick with Ancestry. The search is easier, the images are a better quality in a lot of cases. 1911 census can be searched for free at

www.1911census.co.uk

and purchase credits to view. Free trial on findmypast does not give access to 1911 census.

I subscribe to Ancestry premium and FMP 1911and I am a gold member on genes at the moment which was a complete waste of time, so will be opting for standard when subs run out in a couple of weeks

I have basic Genes, basic Ancestry and 6-month sub to FMP 1911. This combination suits me personally.
