Hi calling all experts, i would love your help before i go and look through the national archives for my sister and uncles adoption certificates.

I am not sure what information i need, i do not think i have enough information to apply for their adoption certificates on line from the gov web site.

i know my uncle was born in the 50s in bradford and i believe his name was peter johnson, mother ada Elizabeth

my sister was born 1966 in scarborough rebecca johnson, her mother margaret johnson

can anyone please help me either collect enough information to go search the national archives, or advise what information i need.

thankyou Michelle

Victoria, you can't find who they were adopted by, probably you know this? There are some threads on this subject, have nudged this one to the top of this board for you:

Hi Jan

Thankyou, I think my uncle just went to live with his father, but was adopted due to him not being on his original bith certificate, and as for my sister it may have been a family friend, it is hard to know the truth as the people i needed to ask have past away. when you start doing your family tree you never consider the secrets you find.

thanks again

Always worth a look on Facebook and Friends reunited you know - if they want to be found they will be out there somewhere.

Adoption records arent at the National Archives and in any case they arent available to look at .Only the adoptee can access their own adoption papers .
