I think that's the only way to treat it. Many thanks for the time and effort

I think sometimes we just can't find rellies on a particular census. Like Jennifer suggests, they could be out in the night for whatever reason. Might have just had a strop on, and walked out! I have a number of rellies that I can't find. But unless it hampers our research for their ancestors, it doesn't really matter. When you come to print your family history you just say "George Albert was away from home on the night of the 1911 census, and has not been traced".

Mike I think you are right and he doesn't want to be found. I have looked again using occupation codes for Iron and Wire workers but he is not appearing.

It is very frustrating isn't it. I can't find my own grandfather in 1911, though he was probably out poaching on census night.
Hope they both turn up one day

Jennifer

By the way I used to live at Booth Bank, Slaithwaite so know the area well.

Nope, no sign. He must be seriously mistranscribed, but I've looked for everything I can think of.

Thinking cap on.

Hi
That is him in the 1881 census.

In 1891 he is 13 and his occupation is wire roller, in 1901 he is 23, an iron pipe fitter, and resident with his maternal grandfather Henry Blacker c1827

Hello
I'm struggling to find George Albert Brearley on the 1911 census. He marries Olive Chappell in the December Quarter 1902. She is on the 1911 census shown as 'head' of family with three children living in Slaithwaite Huddersfield. I know he is alive somewhere because George dies in Huddersfield December Quarter 1933

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Mike
