Hello Ian
Have you entered their names in the name search box at the top of the page to see if anyone else has them in their tree?
Some one may have the certificate and so could save you some money.
Best wishes Joan

Hi Ian
the ref you have found is the GRO ref and is the file number for that cert held by the General Register Office at Southport, Its only of use when ordering from them. Certs cost £9.25 with the ref and can be ordered online at the website Tooty Fruity posted.
Some local Records Office will supply certs, same price, but the GRO ref isnt any good to them. Some Records offices wont supply certs for family research , they say too costly to provide that service

Ian

You will have to buy the certificate, you cannot view them.

Here is the link to the GRO where you can buy online. If you have not used this service before you will have to register.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Certificates cost £9-25.each.

Hi Ian

you can order the certificate from here

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

this will give fathers names and occupations which can then be traced on census records

Having just found the marriage record between my grandfather and my grandmother; and now having a reference number of 8b 427 - what's my next move if I want to see that certificate? Would it be to physically go to the records office in Liverpool?

Any advice would be gratefully received; my tree goes dry on my grandmothers side with her and looking at the record it would appear I've been spelling her surname incorrectly anyway!!!!

Thanks.
