All census on all sites can be searched for free.
You just have to experiment.
In this case;
1851 census
surname EASON
Keyword LENHAM
Results 17
His parents should be born before 1817
So 1807+-10
Results 5.discount the one in a different location

Eason Mary 1816 Lenham Hollingbourne, Lenham View
Eason Mary 1811 Lenham Faversham, Boughton View
Eason William 1803 Harrietsham Hollingbourne, Lenham View
Eason Henry 1802 Not Known Hollingbourne, Lenham View
Eason Phoebe 1799 Frinsted Hollingbourne, Lenham

Now which of these are on the bottom of a page?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Of course findmypast will give a better result.
who is living with Emmer?

Household EASON, Alfred 1837 14 M Hollingbourne Kent VIEW VIEW
Household EASON, Charles 1835 16 M Hollingbourne Kent VIEW VIEW

If you're on GR, then you need a name off of the missing page to look up.
What you do have in this case is Kath's

Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 1618; Folio: 203; Page: 10;

On the PRO copyright slip in margin of image is HO107/1618. In this case, the Folio # is stamped in top right of the page, and the page # is printed on the page.
[The folio # only is put on every other page, and the same # applies to a pair of pages].

Now go to Ancestry, search the 1851census - use an "old search" style - the old/new switch is at top right of page, just below Ancestry's main choices banner bar. Obviously, you don't have a sub, so you won't see full details nor be able to take Ancestry's view image link. However, you will see Ancestry's transcription of the 18 names on your page.

Now decrease the page #, and maybe the folio #.
ho107/1618/203/9 gets no hits
ho107/1618/202/9 gets 20 hits - so you could check GR for Olive Eason, b abt 1830 say.

Half the time you won't have the folio #, like if I'd been tracking Olive (although sometimes it shows thru from the back of the other page even then), and ho107/1618/blank/9 gets 629 hits - you can try looking for Eason at ho107/1618/blank/10 - there's 3 hits - two are obviously young kids and the other's a 49 yo lodger Henry living elsewhere in this piece #, but it would give you the two names to look up on GR.

One of the problems with GR is that you cannot flip from page to page to see other members of the family, or to check on neighborus

You can do that on the other search sites findmypast and ancesty.co.uk

Just one of the many reasons why most helpers recommend NOT subscribing to GR Gold or Platinum, but to take out a sub in one of the other two sites

All children on the 1851 census were born Frinsted. So was the mother.

If you are searching on Genes then I don't think you can look at previous or next pages but if you use Ancestry there are green arrows at the top of the page so you can scroll backwards and forwards through the pages of the census.

Hi, please can someone tell me how or look for me for parents of Alfred Eason b 1837 Frinsted, Kent and his sister Emma (there may be more siblings). cant find Alfred on the 1841 census and on the 1851 he and Emma are at the top of the page so I assume their parents are on the previous page. by 1861 he is married with children. Many thanks or any help or advice
Jaclyn :-)
