You'll find here a list of all the towns starting with the letter D in County Limerick.

These look the closest to the spelling on the census. They appear to be different spellings of the same town.

I read Dumcolshan as Drumcolshan, but that doesn't help me

Thanks for trying Somersetgirl.

I was searching for baptisms for my Dennis Dennehey and the only 1 i think could be him was of a Denis Denehy baptized in Charelville County Cork,about 40 miles from Limerick. Limerick and Cork border each other.

I think the transcriber could not understand his Irish Accent,and whatever he said he was from and what the transcriber thought he said got mispelt.
I don't think Dennis is from the city Limerick,i know his wife is from County Mayo as i have her baptism,and i have the baptism of their 1st born baptism of Patrick Joseph of Fermoy.

I hope the transcriber wasn't been sterotypicle/racist and putting in the word Dum to say the Irish are Dumb, is they such a place as Colshan?

Hi

On the English 1891 census my Great Great Great granddad Dennis Dennehey(spelt Dumehey on census,ancestry) was born in Dumcolshan County Limerick,Ireland. They is no such place as Dumcolshan in County Limerick or Ireland, Please doe's anyone with Knowledge of Ireland,would they be able to tell me what this place could be when spelt correctly?
