Simon - yes, I sometimes use other trees as a guideline but still couldn't find the marriage for some reason last night.

Corrinne - I do appreciate your help. I've now moved on (very quickly I admit) to Edward's Aunt Rebecca. Another conundrum but I'll figure it out.

I wasn't suggesting you copy others info but sometimes it can help to view other tree's if you are stuck to point you in a direction if you have nothing to go on, yes you are right not to accept everything as 100% and check it out for your self.

Simon - I had seen that tree but was not able to find that the marriage last night so I prefer not to use other's information. There are some trees with my rellies in them on Ancestry and quite a few are wrong. As I have just got started on this part of the tree I wanted to make sure I was going in the right direction rather than take the information from other's trees.

There is a tree on ancestry that also claims Ellen Victoria Clover was his wife and that his parents were Henry Pay and Catherine Jane Brissenden.

Thanks Corinne - after three hours searching for that last night, you've found the marriage that I kept missing. I think I was assuming they had married in Dover for some reason.
That is the mother, that was my G. grandmother.

I just viewed that 1911 census image of Edward and Ellen , they were living in Plaistow, Essex at 37 Beatrice Street .

They state they have been married for 10 years and have had no children.He is 39 and she is 46,

Edward is a Master Baker

Would some kind soul be able to help me with this. My g.uncle was Edward Pay and born in Dover in 1872. On the 1901 census he is showing as living in West Ham, Essex (London) with wife Ellen who is 34 yrs old. I can't find any marriage details for them and checking Jonesey's free system of using the 1911 census I found them still in West Ham. However, still using the free system I found five possible children living with Edward (Clara Catherine b.1902, Frederick Thomas b.1906, Ivy Gladys b.1904, John Thomas b. 1906 and William Robert b.1901). Most of these names are regular family names (Clara, Edwards sister - Catherine, Edwards mother, Thomas, Edward's brother etc). However, I can't find these children as living with Ellen so it appears they could be the wrong children. As I don't know Ellen's maiden name I'm a bit stuck.

Can anyone help?
