Thanks for all your help.

I'm not sure if he had a brother, will check that.

His surname is McQuarrie, not McGarry, although i have been told the family surname is Quarry, but they changed it when moving from Ireland to Birkenhead.

I will have to keep digging :)

Edward didn't have an older brother John, did he?
The 1920 US census has John McGarry born 1853, Ireland and emigrated 1872 with brother Edward, born 1870, Ireland, emigrated 1910. They're in Manhattan, New York.

Hello All

I am trying to locate emigration records for an ancester of mine, Edward McQuarrie born c1870 in Ireland, but would have left from Birkenhead or Liverpool between 1900-1910.

Does anyone know the best place to start ?
