Many local offices are charging £9 plus postage. I've notice some charging £1 admin fee on top, and one only offering the "express" service for £15. Check first before using them.

The GRO charge is £9.25 for a cert delivered by post.

Local register offices charge is £9.00 on the basis that you collect it in person. They can charge extra, to cover their postage costs, some do, some don't, it appears.

If I order from a local register office, I always send a first class stamped addressed envelope.

Be aware that if you are overseas

ordering from GRO costs £9.25 charged to my credit card, no addiitonal charge for postage

ordering from a Records Office always costs me:-

cost of certificate
+ £1 P&P for each certificate
+ have to buy special size envelope to self address
+ have to buy a money order, with associated bank charges

it has in the past totalled about £15-£16!

No wonder I always use GRO now!
