Ann,

Do you still have the Gedcom file of your family tree on your computer?

Failing that is your family tree file on your memory stick a Gedcom file I.E. .ged or a Family Tree Maker file I.E. .ftm ?

If either once you have loaded your new Family Tree Maker (Who Do You Think You Are was the 2008 edition of FTM I believe) you will then need to make a copy of your FTM file currently on your memory stick to your computers hard drive and then when you run the FTM program start a new tree by importing the .ged or .ftm file to the FTM program.

My hard drive packed up last week so I was faced with a similar problem to yourself. Fortunately I had only recently backed up my computer hard drive files to an external one. I used the method described above to get everything back.

Hi Ann
usually any newer version of FTM will accept older versions of the family file that might still be on your PC or memory sticks.
What it wont do is allow an older version of FTM to accept a newer family file.........ie 2005(wdytya) version will accept files written on say vers 6 or vers11, but not the other way round.......
