Found information on my ancestor ... while he was being held in Millbank prison awaiting transportation to Australia.

Helpful site regarding ancestral transportations ... search by name.

Also check out The Internet Archive at http://www.archive.org/ which has thousands of scanned books online too.

I've just recently found this website.

If you do a search for 'google books', you can search by surname and I've been really luck y to get a lot of hits for my early families.

Sometimes it will only give you a snippet of the page but sometimes you get the whole page that relates to your family.

It will also show if the book is available in a Library and it also allows a search to see if you can buy it.
