I am using Vista

I have found the FTM file

It did an auto backup today when my pc turned itself off. The only other files seem to be from last year.

If you are using Windows 97 then try this:

1)Click "Start!

2)Click "My Documents"

3)Within the page that opens hopefully you will see a folder called Family Tree Maker.

4)Double click on the folder and it should reveal its contents hopefully one of the files will be entitled Your Tree Name (Whatever you call your tree)_Auto Backup. Double click that and your family tree maker should open using that file.

If that fails single click on the file and rename it something like "FTMTEMP". Close My Documents and start up Family Tree Maker as you normally do and then start a new tree uploading the FTMTEMP file.

Hopefully (Fingers crossed) the new tree will not be corrupted and the Davies family will no longer need to adopt Henry.

Good Luck.

P.S. If it works I am Jonesey from GR. If it doesn't I'm Jonesey from PC World.

P.P.S. If it works rename the good tree before you save it or close FTM down.

Now talk English please Jonesey.

How do I do that. I only use my computer but I do not do computer speak.

I have had a few problems with my computer lately.

1) Get the Davies family to adopt Henry Cook

or

2) Take more water with whatever it is that you drink when adding things to Family Tree Maker.

Just Kidding.

You should have back-ups of your FTM file in the FTM folder on your computer. Try loading one of them to see whether it is just one Back-up that has some how become corrupted by one of those gremlins that seem to lurk in everybodies computer.

HEEELP

I was just looking at a line I have not visited for a while on my Family Treemaker.

Got to the head of that line Henry Cook and discovered tht the Davies/Thompson line I was working on has attached itself to him.
That is a completely seperate line.
Strange thing is that if I approach through the Davies line they are not showing Henry Cook as their child.
What can I do?
