I was looking on IGI batch numbers last night, and came across a christening Evan David who I hope is my Gt Gt Grandfather it shows mother and fathers names. His birth date on their records is for Nov 15th 1807 in Llantrisant Glamorgan Wales, I only know by Census that he was born in 1807 know I expect there were many Evan Davids born in llantrisant Wales , so how can I find if I have the right one,any help much appreciated.

Do all census years state he was born in 1807.

I haven't actually found one on the census born 1807 in Llantrisant

Can you post the details you have and which of his children you are descended from.

The 1841 census doesn't actually have the birth place, only born in the county or not.

Ages were also rounded down in 1841.

I can't find them again, or a marriage/death for Penelope. Did they emigrate?

Do you have a marriage certificate for your Evan which might name siblings as witnesses?
You could compare on the IGI to see if children of that name were born to the same parents.

With those Welsh surnames though, I'd want extra proof that I had the right parents.
Did he marry ( or remarry) after 1837, when a father would be named on the certificate?

only on those three census I can find him.

If so. that might help you to locate the correct marriage record, where there might be more clues.

Perhaps this is their son Jacob ..????

Hi Gwyn yes Gwenllian maiden name was Treherne born st fagans glamorgan Wales, yes Jacob was their son.

I wouldn't risk making a mistake - I'd get the birth cert of Jacob.

A lot of the records on the IGI are only submitted.

EDIT - I was too slow!

Jacobs father was Evan and mother Gwenllian I was trying to find Evan David parents evan born 1809.
