You are right InspectorGreenPen - and have sent two more messages. Reply to first was that the subject line (if contact made via Hot Matches) could have been left blank. I tested this my making a contact via HM but certain to fill in subject line - it did not work. Have pointed this out to GR support team and also ask them to list ways they think it WILL work - still waiting for reply.
Has anyone worked out how names are now added - or is it a case of it not working at all?

No, don't accept it.

GR's response relates to the apparent change of name when looking at older contacts, where one or other of you has updated your tree with a new gedcom file. This is not something that has just happened - I have seen it in contacts going back several years.

The blank relation box is a recent problem. I am sure this is a bug in the program that was introduced recently, probably around a month ago.

Below is the reply from GR - not certain I really understand it - but suppose I have to accept it! Shame as I found that feature really useful, pity names not able to be added manually.

Thanks for your email.

This seems to happen because the contact was originally made linking a relation
to a specific relation key. When a member re-imports or deletes and then imports
a new tree some of the relations (those that have changed or been removed) will
be given new relation keys, and so those keys no longer tie in with the original
relation key used when the original contact was made. I am afraid there is
nothing we can really about this. It is just something that is a side-effect of
a tree being re-imported.

I hope this doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the site.

It looks rather like a fault to me. I suppose there is an issue what to put in the box if there are many messages to and from the member concerned, each with a different title. Do you put the first one or the last one?, for example.

Click on the member's name and you will see all their messages and subjet titles - not ideal but at least you can see why you were in contact with each other.

Just checked, the ones without a named relation are pm's from on these boards. I mentioned this before on a thread, but I think everyone thought I was bonkers!

No, I take it all back, one of my latest ones is about a match.

That's very inconvenient, I rely on that info to trace contacts.

My "Relation" column is empty too.

Just checked mine, and there is no name in the relation column for the last 5 of my new contacts either, so its not you.

Help please - is it me or GR
New contacts in "My Contacts" no longer have any name in the "Relation" column and I am not able to add any.Am I right in thinking this happened all by itself. I have been in contact with GR support team only to have a short reply saying this cannot be done!
