1841 Census - entry spilt over two pages?

Hello,

Hopefully someone can help point a 'newbee' in the right direction.

I have found my gr,gr,gt Grandfather listed on the 1841 census as a child. I was hoping to get his parents names from this entry. The problem I have is that they are listed on the top left of the page and the entry starts with his Mother. I don't know if the father was listed on the page before or was absent/dead.

As my gr,gr,gr grandfather was born before 1837 I don't seem to be able to search birth records for an idea on his fathers name. And don't seem to have enough info to do a marriage search either, as all I have is mothers name and no idea of her maiden name.

Can anyone offer me advice on where to go from here?

Thanks in advance - Claire

Relationships aren't given on the 1841. You really need to get your gr gr gt grandfather's marriage cert to confirm his father's name.

When you have the father's name, you can search parish records to find a marriage.

Parish records can be found on line on various sites:

freereg
familysearch

also some counties have online parish clerks this site has links to them:

www.onlineparishclerks.org.uk/

or try googling the places you are interested in + parish records

Where were you looking at the census? If it was Ancestry then you can scroll back or forward a page to see other entries. You just need to click on the arrows at the top of the page. I don't know if this also applies to FMP. According to a previous poster you can't do this on Genes.
