I've spent ages this evening and can't solve this problem

I've got a Charles Percy Cains born 1865 Lambeth and can track him through the Census until his death but not on the 1891

The spelling of the surname has altered to Kanes.

He married 1887 Bloomsbury to Sophie Woods and she has died between 1887-1897 but I can't find her death.

Can anybody see him on the 1891 because I can't. I assume he will be Kains

Yes, that's him.
He has altered the spelling as he married as Kanes and his children from his second marriage are Kanes.

I've put an amendment through for the marriage on the London records as they had the groom and brides name incorrect.

Update
Just had a brain wave. I searched for birth and death of Kanes 1887 (when he married) and 1888 (when Sophia died)
There is a Henry James Kanes born and died Mar qtr 1888 St.Giles.
I couldn't see a baptism but there is a burial of a Henry James Kanes 15th Feb 1888 St.Giles, son of Charles Percy.

That means Sophia must have died from childbirth problems, as she died in St.Giles as well

Result!
