I wonder if anybody would help me , I hear from a member of the family that John William Plowman born Lowesby Leics. may have died in WW1 .
My Ancestry sub has just run out so I cannot answer him at present , I looked on FMP and there was a likely entry but I only have a sub for the 1911 on there.
I would be so grateful if someone could do a look up for me .
Thanks Tinalina

You could try here -
http://www.cwgc.org/
The "Debt of Honour Register" is the Commission's database listing the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars and the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations worldwide where they are commemorated. The register can also be searched for details of the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action in the Second World War.

There's a tree on Ancestry which has a John William Plowman born 1891 in Leicestershire marrying in Australia in 1918 and dying in 1965.

Could this be him ?

Thanks Choccy , the birthdate is eight years out but I cannot find a marriage or death for him so it could possibly be him . Will check it when I have Ancestry again.
Thanks for your interest.

Thank you so much Choccy for the trouble you have taken , infortunately the parents are not those of my John Plowman , however I will keep the info for future reference as he very well may be a more distant member of the same family.
thanks again Tinalina

Thanks Choccy
The John William you found parents Charles and Catherine is the correct one , the other one is probably a member of my family , I think that their grandfathers were brothers but have no documents to prove this except a telling census birthplace entry.
Thanks again for your trouble , sorry I did not reply earlier out all day yesterday.

Hi Jansmith
so sorry not to have replied earlier , as I wrote to choccy I was out all day yesterday and quite honestly didn't expect to have any more replies so I was very pleased to hear from you.
I think that you may be right about John Plowman , the scratched out fathers name of Charles on the army record is very interesting and the age at death is correct .
All in all I am feeling that the records do refer to John who would have been my Great Uncle.
Thank you so much your interest and help it is very much appreciated.
Regards Tinalina
