Trying another track; Bernardine..... I can't find a birth, or a listing in the 1900 census - any ideas?

I do think the 1910 census lists Annie as married for 10 years and says m2 - which might mean that Thomas wasn't Bernardines name - however this is the name she used to marry Charles Clarence Boling in 1914.

fyi-i'm really trying to push this relationship for personal reasons; my grandmother was supposedly named Bernadine (Heffernan - can't find a link) after this person. unfortunately I lost my nana to a brain tumour last year and this is something that she never knew for certain - never will now I suppose; but I will.

Many thanks

Would she have needed to apply for US Naturalisation??

I'm going to see Sally Morgan in September; maybe that will be my question....LOL

unfortunately she immigrated into the US too early for Ellis Island records ...... they basically start about 1890

This site does have earlier immigrants

www.castlegarden.org/

might be worth a search

mind you, there are soooooooooo many ways that immigrants got into the US ..... via New York, Boston, Philadelphia, into Canada and then down, round the Horn, etc etc

My relatives ended up in San Bernardino County, California via Australia!

I am not aware of anywhere that you could write to for further information.

The 1890 census which might have been helpful in following Annie's path through the states was unfortunately destroyed by fire so is not available.

What was the country of her birth?

When she wrote in 1915 was she a Kelly or a Thomas?
