Hello all

I have a master mariner in the family, 1851 census but I can't find him in the 1841 census as I presume he must have been at sea.
I am trying to trace his parents and further back but at the moment am stuck !!

1851 census shows Samuel Taylor aged 33 Master Mariner living in Bridgewater Somerset , married to Mary Ann (nee Edward) 3 children, mother in law and servant.
Is it possible for anyone to get further back on Samuel and his parents?
Many thanks....Tim

Thanks girls....so am I right in thinking that IF Samuel was away at sea there would be no record of him in a census?

Regards...Tim
