Hello i have found a birth what i do believe could be my gt grandma's birth, who was adopted. Is there anyway i can find the mother, she was born in 1883 or would i have to travel to the reg office where she was registered for information. Thankyou for advice

You can order the cert through gro.gov.uk for £9.25

Thankyou Jax i was wondering if there would be any records out there about the mother but i quess her birth would be to early. thankyou i will get the cert.

until you know the mothers name ( from the cert) I dont think you'll get much further.

If Your Gt Gt Gran was adopted there will be no formal records, it just means given to someone else to raise in those times
