Please be careful in thinking that you will actually get a copy of a will.

If it says executor or executrix then there will have been a will, if it just says administration granted to then there is every chance that there was no valid will and all you will get is a copy of the administration grant which will not tell you much more than what is on the Ancestry site.

Just thought I would mention this

just in case you want to convert the money:

In 1880, £200 0s 0d would have the same spending worth of today's £9,662.00

You can send off for a copy of the actual will which should give you more detail. It costs £5 & takes about 21 days.
I've just sent off for my first one so am waiting with baited breath!!

Thank you very much for that Rosie.

I was hoping they would give a lot more information than that but I suppose that was wishful thinking.

I will add it to my records.

Thank you very much for your help

No problem, Jane.

It says "1st February 1879 Administration of the Personal Estate of John Hollingsworth Grey late of Scunthorpe in the Parish of Frodingham in the county of Lincoln, Furniture Dealer who died 12th January 1879 at Scunthorpe, was granted at the Principal Registry to Catherine Grey Widow the Relict."
The personal estate was "under £200".

There is a John Hollingsworth Grey (different spelling) on Ancestry Wills who died in 1879 in Lincolnshire.
If he is one of those you are looking for I can give you the details.

I am trying to find out if a couple of my relatives left any wills. I know Documents online do wills upto 1858 but how do I find wills made after this date.

I am particularly interested in finding out in if John Hollingsworth Gray made a will.

Thanks for your help
