Sometimes the replies I get when researching family history completely throw me.

Having a Baptist ancestor I thought I would write to the local church to see if they held any records about him. This was the reply....

No, I am sorry we do not have any record that I know of, of this name.

However I can tell you that you and I have a common far distant relative named Noah, who built an ark, and an even more distant one named Adam, whom God created and placed in the garden of Eden. This in turn reminds us that "by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death by sin". If your ancestors were baptists it is to be hoped that they lived and died in the faith of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the only name given among men whereby we must be saved. How is it with you? Do you live your life as a true follower of Jesus? Do you have the faith and hope of your ancestors and our mutual ancestors Noah and Adam?

Kind regards

'Emma'

Have you received any certificates of proof from him.
Sorry couldn't resist.

Having read your message three times I am at a loss for words, which isn't one of my usual failings. -JLe

Nice one!! Was it one of the independent type baptist churches? I'd go for the HQ if I were you (Baptist church HQ not God!) lol

I'd ask him whether the church has any colour photos of dinosaurs passed down from your mutual ancestor Noah. ;) Even a nice watercolour ...

Good thinking! There's bound to be two of everything passed down from Noah. Cx

Two can play at that game. I'd be inclined to write to them again saying you are a fully paid up member of their church (maybe worded more appropriately) but you are trying to find out when your ancestors first saw the light and were accepted into the church.

You may get a better response once they realise you are a true believer!
