Hullo! Would be grateful for some help or even a nudge in the right direction.

I'm trying to trace Annie Britannia Johnson who, according to family legend, was born on the Royal Yacht Britannia (hence the middle name) in the Bay of Biscay, around 1876. Her parents were William Johnson and Ann Holloway.

Please help xx

I've no doubt that she was born on the Britannia and named after her, but as for that being the royal yacht - well, no. It's probably as well that she wasn't born on the royal yacht - how would you like being Annie Victoria And Albert Johnson. I presume you've seen the Britannia on TV - does it really look like she was launched before 1876?

This site has pictures of the Royal Yachts:

mgnv is right, the Britannia was the very last one (launced in the 1950s and the name hadn't been used before.

This site has details of ships named Britannia during the 1800s but none of them seem have been sailing in 1876. There is a Brittanic which was.

The birth cert should answer the question.
