Can anyone help please? The informant on my grandfathers death cert (1929) who died in Cork District Hospital Eire is described as 'Inmate'! The hospital was/is not a mental hospital as far as I am aware. Has anyone heard of hospital Informants to a death being described this way before? |

I think it means someone who worked at the hospital and was aware that the death had taken place. |

It really derives from the wording of the act saying who is qualified as an informant. So if a lodger rego'ed his landlady's death, he'ld do so as an inmate of the lodging house. |
