I see freeBMD has been updated today....records in to the 1950`s now in some areas.

In addition to the ongoing year by year transcriptions, certain surnames have been transcribed by family researchers and submitted to Free BMD separately.

For example, my wife is descended from the Baggott family, who can be traced back to the Norman Conquest. As a result of the sterling work undertaken by members of the Baggott clan worldwide, Free BMD has Baggott transcriptions right up to December 1983.

Always worth a look. Never know what you will find.

Interesting what is there.

My cousin several years younger than me is listed, but not her sister who is older than me.

Such an easy site to search...A great aid to research.

Gwyn - In the 1940s, it matters more what quarter the birth is in than the year.
Here's some FreeBMD completion rates (actually last month's - I've not updated yet).
