Thanks for the input. The particular bookmark concerned was one I thought I had dealt with in my records but something else came up and I wanted to refer back. there was no question of not reponding as there had been quite a bit of info and I was suitably grateful for the advice.
I shall certainly save stuff from now on. I just thought bookmarks stayed there to look back at. Please don't tidy me away again! After all - they aren't cluttering up our computer 'brains' are they as GR saves them for us
Thanks anyway
Jill

it is often recommended that you save to your own computer any information found for you. It is then available to you at any time.

............ the information on GR is saved on GR's own site, but guess there could always be a major breakdown there some time!

Personally I tend to keep anything that I may find useful in the future. My wife, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. She deletes almost everything after she has read and digested the content.

Each to his or her own, I suppose.

Some people like to keep their 'my threads' down to a minimum and clear out on a regular basis unfortunately. So when info is added it's always best to save it somewhere else straight away.

Did you acknowledge on the thread that you had read the info, sometimes people will delete if they think they have done work only for it to be ignored.

I was very disappointed when I returned to a bookmarked topic only to find that whoever gave me the tips had deleted all their answers. I can't see the point of this and it looks as if one has to copy and save all the answers 'just in case' they are needed again. there doesn't seem much point in bookmarking my own threads if my 'helper' doesn't want me to keep the very much appreciated answers.

thanks to all who have helped me over my learning curve.
