Redundant Certificates

If you didn't want to keep the certificates, I suppose you could always hand them on to a family history society in the area that they relate to. They would probably be able to archive them - I know the Research Library of the family history society I'm in is open to visitors/researchers one day per week so the resources can be seen by other people.

Does anyone know how to link a held certificate back to it's GRO reference please?

We needed a birth certificate for someone on OH's tree, but there were 2 people of identical name in the same quarter of the same year born in the same registration district.
We bought both certificates.
I would like to add the information as postems on the freebmd site, but as it was some years ago, I don't know which certificate is which on the index.
Can anyone help please?

I have a number of redundant BMD Certificates for various people who I thought may be direct relatives, but which later turned out to be unrelated to my family.

Some time ago, I read of a site where details of such certificates could be posted incase anyone else was searching on that person for their tree.

Does anyone have details of that site, or have I imagined the whole thing?

It seems a shame to discard the certificates just because the don't relate to my family
