I'd say it ends in "ton". As she is mother-in-law, have you any idea who she married?

First, Many thanks for your replies.

The name comes from the 1871 Census, the family are Cooke

Henry Cooke head 47 yrs born Wormbridge, Shropshire.
Ellen Cooke 45yrs
Mary Ann Cooke 24yrs
etc.

Census Swinton area, South Yorkshire.
