Thank you both,yes i thought Elizabeth was adopted, that confirms it. The info i have is from Elizabeth's birth cert, thats how I got the name of her mother, Sarah.
I cant seem to get any further back

How have you arrived at the info on Sarah and her children if you do not have any census info?

trying to find anything on Sarah Wheatley, born abt 1863. She had 2 children, elizabeth born abt 1889, and george, born about 1885, both in Caistor workhouse and born out of wedlock.
It seems that the children may have been adopted, not entirly sure. Also We think that Sarah was a domestic servant (poss in Owmby, Lincs). I cannot find her on census and would appreciate any help as I have hit a brick wall.
