I shall bring forward for you a thread giving sites that have been thought useful.

For census, and civil registration records in England, I would recommend the ancestry site and find my past. I like them both. Try a trial on each to see what you think, but remember to cancel it before the end of the two weeks' trial :-)

A subscription one for Scottish records is Scotland's People.

I would recommend Ancestry which I find well worth the money.

I would only ever have the basic membership to Genes (so that you can use the community boards) but NOT any higher level subscription for research.

just a general question really.I was wondering if people think it is worth subsribing to another site as well as GR. is it worth the money and what are the benifits if this is so. which sites are recommended
