Thanks Jan and Slartibartfast,

Yes I do live in NZ. I will try emailing in the first instance and then go for the death certificate.

do you have his death cert? I am wondering what on earth Ancoats hospital would have been doing with a vat of boiling oil, big enough for a bloke to fall into.

he may well have died afer having done that ( and posibly at Ancoats hospital) but are you sure the two elements haven't got intertwinned?

I think Susan lives in New Zealand maybe. You're probably right about the death informant, just thought it might at least have his home address?

I have a Charles Ross who died in an Industrial Accident on 10 February 1937 at Ancoats Hospital, Manchester. Charles worked for W.E Carey and Co. He died after falling into a vat of boiling oil. There was an inquest into the accident, I was wondering if it would have been reported in a newspaper? I am hoping if so, the article would mention any family of Charles. I am trying to establish wether or not he had married and had children.

Thanks for any tips anyone may provide.
