My sister and I are planning to visit Donegal in the late spring of 2011 to research our McGinley/McGinlay ancesters. We are planning to base ourselves in Letterkenny. Can anyone suggest good accommodation in the town, and does anyone how easy it is to get about the county on public transport. We are hoping not to have to hire a car but if needs be we will. Any other useful information will be appreciated.

Have you tried googling the name of the town, they may have a Tourist Board giving information,

Hi Daisyroots,
Letterkenny is a good size town with at least 6/7 hotels and a library and a Births, Deaths & Marriage records office based in St. Conals, Hospital.

Now ain't that nice, fair warmed my heart. People advising on where to stay, and what facilities there are in the town. You wouldn't get that sort of help anywhere but on Genes Reunited.
