DUNN brickwall

Hi,
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as it seems to be a total brick wall.

Agnes Rosina DUNN

married in 1925 to Alfred GIGG

No record of her what soever before the marraige
the family spell her name as DUNNE but the records I've found have it as DUNN

We believe she was born in 1899 but always gave her date of birth as 1900 (didn't want to be born in the last century apparently)

She said her family were on the stage, but there seems to be some doubt about this !

Any thoughts on how to research this would be appreciated. Marragie certificate is en-route but apparently other people have failed even with the info on the certificate.

The family think she may have been a foundling, but it seems the only reason for this is the lack of a paper trail.

Thank for the replies :-)

Yes, that's the right marraige.

Oh, hadn't thought of a name change, thats a possibility.

This could truely be a dead end then, if there is no way the verify that.

I will chase the other middle name with her son though, the initial M is new.

Looks the Agnes Rosina born 1899 was still living with her parents in 1911. Do tell us the results when the marriage cert arrives!!

Surry is the right area.

So possibly oprhaned, parents remarried ?

Anyone know how much ID would have been required for a marraige in 1925 ?

Thanks guys, a lot of lines to pursue there, including trying to marry Ms. Woodman off. Ideally to a DUNN - dream on !

Thanks again, very much appreciated.

Hi,
Marraige certifiacte is here.

April 18th 1925 - parish church cheam

Albert Ernest GIGG Age 30 Batchelor

Agnes Rosina DUNN Age 26 Spinster 10 Lumbey (or Lumley) Rd Cheam
Father was Frank DUNN Rank or profession - just a line through.

Witnessed by Frederick Cherles Corke and Edward GIGG

Still no joy.

But she can't just have appearred. She had to be somewhere for the 1911 and 1901 census. Or she must be on an immigratrion list, even if DUNN wasn't her birth name, it came from somewhere !

Any thoughts now ?

All help or suggestions greatly appreciated

You say she had a son but I'm not seeing a Gigg/Dunn birth on Ancestry.

oh. Thats interesting.

Yes, two sons.

One Cecil Roy born 1931, the other was Geoffrey. Cecil is the reason I'm doing this tree, it's his mother we can't find, and understandbaly he is very curious.

I'll ask him for his birth certificate, just in case that sheds some more light on things.

How would I check for Scottish births ? Ancestry ? The family have already checked Ireland, although thats worth checking again too I suppose.

She can't just appear can she ?!

Thanks for the suggestions so far

Scottish births are on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk but you have to pay.
