Open it up in Paint. Every computer comes with a version of this. You will find this program under Accessories in your Program list.

On the tools icons press the one that looks like a box with dotted lines, Click the document and highlight the bit you wish to crop by moving your mouse. Then right click and press crop.

You can enlarge it using the tool at the top.

Hi Joseph,
When you open them it will say something like Adobe Reader or pdf at the top of the page. Its always worth trying a right click on the document anyway to see what options it offers.
Regards,
Mayfield.

Hi Joseph,
Am I right in guessing that they were downloaded as pdf files?
If so it might be worth trying this, I just tried it on a census I had saved and it seemed to work ok on windows XP.

Open the pdf, right click on the document select the "select tool" option use the cursor to create a box around the area you want.

Right click on the selected area and click copy image.

Then paste this into a word document and try printing it out, you will find zoom options you can play with to resize the image at the top of the screen in word, or use the rght click and format option.

Hope it helps,
Best wishes,
Mayfield.

Hi,again to genes members,
I have recently downloaded some prison records off ancestry, which are mostly hand written, and legible on my pc to my great suprise one record contained a photo of my gg aunt, and also a newspaper cutting out lining the case.
My problem is that i have tried in vain to get it copied so all the writing is easy to read ,and it would be really great to get the photo enlarged.
But after going round various outlet that do numourous things in photography, and looked on the net,i have not found anything that seems to cater for my problem.
So thanks to those of you who reply.

Regards Joe
